Dark-Matter-Wines-4.jpg

Dark Matter wines, first released in 2011 with the 2006 Zinfandel, is a collaboration between the four Mondavi sisters of the Peter Mondavi Sr. Family. As fourth generation Mondavis, they spent their childhood honing their ambitions and mastering the significance of hand-crafted wines.

the sisters' great-grandparents, Cesare and Rosa Mondavi, purchased Charles Krug Winery shortly after the end of prohibition. It was Cesare and Rosa’s passion, determination, and vision that began to shape Napa Valley as one of California’s premium wine regions. Peter Sr. and Blanche, took over the winery operations in 1966.

After years of research, peter introduced revolutionary winemaking techniques commonly used today, including cold fermentation, cold sterile filtration, and aging wine in French oak barrels – techniques implemented in the winemaking of Dark Matter Wines. peter continued to work closely with the family to continue the legacy of the Mondavi Family until 2016 when he passed at the age of 101 years. . Although Dark Matter Wines is far from traditional, their mission is to create wines with the same passion and devotion as the generations before them.

2018 Dark Matter Limitless Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine offers immediate aromatics of freshly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, black cherry, and hints of chocolate-covered strawberries and raspberries followed by a plethora of baking and savory spices. The tannins in this wine are present in a way that coats your entire mouth and explodes with black currant and black cherry, like taking a bite into a freshly baked mixed berry pie. Hints of vanilla, clove, and cinnamon finish the wine, making my mouth water, leaving you wanting more."

We recommend decanting this wine for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.
